Sergey Fedorovich Sharapov is a representative of the late Slavophiles, one of the most distinctive Russian economists of the late XIX - early XX centuries. S.F.Sharapov was not an office scientist-economist. His work had a bright journalistic form, an acute critical orientation. At the same time, Sharapov’s work had a practical “exit”, contained specific recommendations on the economic recovery of Russia. Sergey Fedorovich paid special attention to the "paper ruble" and other works to criticize the monetary reform, which was prepared and carried out by the then Minister of Finance S.Yu. Vutte. Sharapov showed that Russia"s transition to the gold ruble (the essence of monetary reform) would lead the domestic economy into decline, deprive the country of sovereignty, make it dependent on the "owners of gold" - Rothschilds.
