The new book about the history of the Papanin Four is published to the 80th anniversary of the famous drifting station, North Pole-1. This is the only book where the biographies of all four polar people-Papanians are reduced together.
A lot has been written about the first drifting station "North Pole". However, the book that you are holding in your hands first collected and compared the diary entries of the participants of the drift, the evidence of contemporaries and colleagues, articles from newspapers, excerpts from the protocols of official meetings were given. As a result, we have a voluminous and complete picture of events of 80 years ago, a detailed illustration of the era of enthusiasts and real ascetics. On the pages of the book, legendary polar explorers appear to be living people, not ideologized images, so the reader has the opportunity to make an objective opinion about the personalities of the Arctic heroes of the 20th century.
Burlakov Yuri Konstantinovich - a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honorary polar explorer, geologist, consultant to the International Mammoth Committee. He took part in the excavation of the last Yamal mammoth "Lyuba". Yu.K. Burlakov lived and worked in the Arctic for 10 years, he knows firsthand what frost is 62 degrees (in the Oymyakon, which is called the pole of the cold, lived in a tent with this frost).
