To the 75th anniversary of the Operation "Bagration". The key element of the Wehrmacht defense on the Eastern Front was the occupied territory of Belarus. The responsibility for this sector was assigned to the Army Group Center - the invariably strong operational and strategic association of the Nazi troops.
Natural natural borders of the Belarusian SSR with its forests, swamps and numerous rivers were used by the Germans to create a unified network of defensive structures with relying on large cities, which they turned into real fortresses. It was the Army Group Center “Center” overlapping the Red Army Way of attack on East Prussia and in the heart of the Third Reich. On June 23, 1944, the troops of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Belorussian and 1st Baltic fronts began operations Bagration. And already on July 17, 57 thousand captured by Nazi soldiers and officers walked along the streets of Moscow "Parade of the defeated".
