This book is a documentary history of the confrontation between power and Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov, who has become a symbol of moral resistance to the totalitarian regime. All the power of the Soviet state machine was brought down on Sakharov: the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPSU, the KGB and the whole army of party propagandists, but he survived and won. The book contains reports and information notes, KGB certificates, work notes of the Politburo meetings and the decision of the Central Committee on Sakharov’s human rights activities. Many documents are published for the first time.
