In the book of memoirs, one of the most outstanding Soviet commanders ¬marshal, the Soviet Union I.S. Koneva for the first time collected all the existing electorals of the author - both famous, but not reprinted in recent decades, the forty -fifth and notes of the front commander, as well as individual chapters preserved in the archive of the Marshal family in the form of tape records of oral stories of the commander about those about those about those or other events of the military history of the Fatherland. Especially interesting among them are the memories of the formation of I.S. Koneva as a professional military during the Civil War and in the interwar period, his participation in the first battles of the Great Patriotic War, Moscow Battle, objective assessments of the military qualities of I.V. Stalin and G.K. Zhukov. For one reason or another, including censorships, these chapters were not published during the author’s life or went out excerpts.
Analysis of the author of memoirs has a wide strategic coverage of events and at the same time deep, meticulous penetration into all details of operations, whose witness and creator he was personally. I.S. Konev widely used archival material, so that his work has the qualities of a full -fledged historical study. Despite the fact that the memoirs of I.S. Koneva was prepared in the period called “years of stagnation”, they are distinguished by the objectivity of assessments, the firmness of the views and the conviction of the author of the correctness of the matter, to whom he devoted his whole life
