On the night of June 5 to 6, 1944, Churchill sent an encoded message in which he informed Stalin that the second front, about which so many copies were broken, will open a few hours later. In fact, by this time the invasion had already begun-in the operational rear of the German troops that defended the Normandy coast, the paratroopers of the three airborne divisions of the Allies fought for key transport nodes and bridges. And at dawn, a large -scale landing began from the sea ...
Having hitherto armada, the ships of the United Expeditionary Fleet delivered to Normandy the shock forces of the Neptune operation, which had to check for the strength of the Atlantic shaft declared by Nazis impregnable. Although the operations preceded two years of painstaking planning and thorough preparation of troops, literally from the first minute the events began to develop not as expected. The uncertainty on the Normandy coast was preserved for long seven days, while the invasion forces were not able to finally fulfill the first of the tasks of the Crusade in Europe - to combine disparate coastal bridgeheads into a single whole and prepare for a jerk into a depth of France.
This book is dedicated to the allies for the first week of landing in Normandy. A detailed description of the fighting on five coastal bridgeheads precedes an overview of those large-scale efforts, thanks to which a successful invasion of northwestern Europe has become a reality
