The famous statesman and politician of the Florentine Republic of Niccolo de Bernardo Machiavelli (1469-1527) became the philosopher and researcher of public processes involuntarily: the omnipotent Medici removed him from power, imprisoned him, and then sent him from the city. It seemed: life was over, and a political career came to an end. But from this moment, the world glory of the thinker Machiavelli, who survived its creator for centuries, begins. The works of Florence written in the exile, "On Military Art" and "Sovereign" for 500 years now - the desktop books of each politician and entrepreneur. So it is not for nothing that Machiavelli is called one of the founders of the science of political science and the founder of the theory of political technology.
This publication introduces the Russian reader to the treatise "On Military Art", which became the forerunner of the new period not only in the history of European armies, but also in political history as a whole. Machiavelli sought to write a practical leadership, and in order to make his words even more significant, he chose as the main character of his treatise, the Besterio Column, the famous condotker and military leader, in whose lips the words of military art sounded like the advice of a warrior sophisticated in the battles. Here, for the first time in history, the idea of universal military service sounded, numerous techniques, tricks, rounds, ambushes, deceptions and bribery that are used in politics and in its most acute form were analyzed here
