Grigory Stepanovich Vinsky (1752–1818), small nobleman, memoirist. The “Notes” of Vinsky are one of the wonderful monuments of Russian memoir literature. Their author did not belong to the outstanding historical figures of the 18th century, his memories almost do not affect political events, but they give an idea of how its contemporaries who lived far from the capitals perceived the Catherine era. The ally of the Life of Vinsky took place in the province: childhood - in Little Russia (in the Bryansk), mature years in exile in Orenburg, Ufa, Buzuluk, in his fate there were many unexpected turns. Notes cover the period from 1750 to the 1790s, they were reflected in morals, the family’s family’s family’s family’s family’s family and officials, and the peculiarities of raising the younger generation.
