Throughout the post -Soviet period of our country, the thought of the “excessive price of victory” is persistently introduced into the mass consciousness, that the human lines of the Red Army "in the vast majority of battles were repeatedly exceeded by the German." First of all, this applies to the Moscow battle: in a number of publications, it is proved "that in it the human losses of the Soviet troops exceeded the losses of German formations by 20 or more times.
The proposed book critically analyzes the existing assessments of human losses in battles near Moscow and on a single conceptual basis are calculated using archival documents, research of domestic and foreign authors, irrevocable losses of Soviet and German troops in the Moscow battle. The obtained estimates of losses refute the most common opinion about "multiple excess of human losses of the Red Army over the losses of the Wehrmacht" in the battle of Moscow.
Particular attention in the book is paid to exposing myths and speculations in relation to human losses in the Moscow battle, including myths about the "huge" numerical superiority of the Red Army for troops over the Wehrmacht troops, about the "unsurpassed" military skill of the Wehrmacht soldiers, about the "superiority "German military thought and practice of troops managed, as well as false speculations about the heroic death of Zoe Cosmodemyanskaya and the feat of 28 heroes-Panfilov
