The seven famous Russian philosophers, lawyers and writers in 1909 published a collection of articles "milestones", setting out in it their unpleasant assessment of the worldview of the intelligentsia. This historical investigation describes, first of all, the situations related to the collective resignation of professors and teachers of Moscow University, as well as some features of medical congresses in 1911. Causing a wide public outcry, these events served as a kind of illustration of the psychological portrait of the intelligentsia created by the authors of the collection of the Milestones
