The book analyzes the story of one of the most poorly studied stages of political repressions of the 1930s. -1935-the beginning of 1937-on the example of the territories of Altai and the Oirot AO, in the indicated period in the West Siberian Territory. The evolution of repressive mechanisms that occurred during preparation for great terror is considered. The book covers the course of repressive campaigns in the country as a whole and in Altai in particular. The source of the study is the book of memory of the victims of political repressions and the archive affairs of the repressed in the Altai Territory. The dynamics of arrests, condemnations, the development of indictment as they move to great terror, the social portrait of repressed in comparison with other regions and periods of repression are analyzed. The issue of the influence of economic indicators of the development of the region on the dynamics of repression in it is considered, a hypothesis about the influence of the level of well -being of the population on the level of repression in each particular area is proved
