The monograph is based on a dissertation (2003), written by the author during the “battle for military history”, in the center of which was the number and quality of the armies of Eastern Europe of the XVI-XVII centuries, the problems of criticism of sources, the methodology for calculating the composition and losses. The author, together with like-minded people, managed to debunk the myths of the "darkness" of the royal rates of the XVI-XVII centuries, their "backwardness" and inefficiency on the battlefield
