Military hospital in blockaded Leningrad

The military doctor, surgeon F.F. Grachev during the war, worked in a hospital in the besieged Leningrad and left unique memories that occupy a special place among books about the blockade. Grachev’s memoirs are extremely true, they show incredible conditions in which people lived and worked in the besieged Leningrad. A special place is given to the activities of the hospital itself, the problems of not only medical, but also purely everyday nature, often of critical importance in the situation of terrible hunger, bombing, artillery storage.
