The issue is opened by articles based on the study of rare archival materials that allow us to supplement our ideas about the progress of confessionalization in Germany and the structure of European trade in Russia of the 17th century. In the heading of the Holy and Prostrats, research on the history of faith and church in the Middle Ages is presented. The section on the history of domestic media, publishes an analysis of the work of the recently departed A.Kh. Gorfunkel, as well as a study based on archival materials of the relationship of A.N. Nasonova and D.M. Petrushevsky, which allows you to understand the circumstances and difficulties of the existence of historical science in the USSR in the first half of the twentieth century. The release publishes a translation of the French edict about the coat of arms of 1696 with a detailed comment and preface. Along with sections on historiography and scientific life, a large place in the issue is occupied by reviews of the latest domestic and foreign publications on the history of the Middle Ages and the early New Age.
