The nineteenth century began in Mexico with the roar of guns of national liberation war. The country, before that, the Spanish colony, has gained independence. But this did not bring her happiness. Mexico was still monstrously poor, and the people were languishing under the rule of Latifundists and gendarmes. For the whole nineteenth century, one dictatorship replaced another. Only in 1910, the people rose to the fight against their oppressors and crushed the power of tyrant Porfirio Diaz. This was followed by a long series of civil wars and uprisings, ending with the creation of a modern Mexican state
