Mathematics of the ancient world in school lessons: a book about the history of mathematics development

This book reminds of the main stages of mathematics. But the main attention is paid to the formation of mathematics in the era of the ancient world. Mathematics is seen as an integral part of universal history against the background of the development of world culture. The book contains many excerpts from the works of classics of mathematics, which makes it possible to feel their style of presentation, features of the mathematical language.
The reader will get acquainted with both theoretical material written in an accessible form and with practical, implying the analysis of tasks. Among them, historical (more than 160 are distinguished, and they are taken from the works of classics) and educational (83 of them, they are proposed by the author to develop skills in solving problems of the type in question) In addition, part of the tasks is recommended for independent work. Emotional inserts, funny cases and legends about science and its creators are given.
At the end of the book, Appendix 1 contains a list of some sections of the school curriculum indicating the tasks of this manual that can be used in the study of the relevant topic. In Appendix 2, a dictionary of some frequently mentioned mathematical terms is given indicating their origin and meaning.
The publication is addressed to students of physical and mathematical faculties of pedagogical universities, teachers reading this course, teachers, high school students, as well as everyone who is interested in the history of mathematics
