A special formation under the command of Oscar Dirlewanger went down in the history of World War II as one of the most cruel formations of the SS. At the conscience of the fines-dirlewangers, at least 60 thousand ruined lives, and the methods that were used by these military personnel in the fulfillment of the tasks, went far beyond the generally accepted norms of human morality and the rules for conducting military operations.
Dirlengger Sonderkanda specialized in the fight against partisans and punitive actions against the civilian population. Suppressing resistance in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union, Poland and Slovakia and while committing monstrous crimes, Dirlenger"s subordinates earned the most bad reputation.
