Leisure and entertainment of the townspeople of the Kuban region and the Black Sea province (1861-1914)

In monographs based on a wide range of published and unpublished sources, a public component of the leisure sphere of cities and urban settlements of the Kuban region and the Black Sea province was described from 1861 to 1914. Particular attention was paid to sports activities, as well as entertainment in the space of clubs, other and drinking institutions. The behavioral practices and leisure preferences of citizens have been investigated. The range of services and legal framework for the activities of public catering institutions are examined in detail. The work of clubs for organizing leisure for their members is analyzed. The features of the formation of sports infrastructure associated with a lack of specialized sports facilities are shown.
