Kronstadt is a unique fortress city that has completely preserved the urban planning structure to date, laid down at the beginning of the 18th century, and the system of coastal and marine fortifications, which developed during the XVIII, XIX and early XX centuries. The architectural monuments of the city illustrate the three main aspects of the city’s life: a fortress, a large military and trading port and a merchant city with its infrastructure. To date, the history of Kronstadt has not been studied, and the existing sources are outdated. At the same time, after the completion of the construction of the ring road and terminals, interest in Kronstadt is growing steadily, which gives rise to the need for new and urgent works on its history and architecture
