Khersones (ancient Korsun) in Crimea

The public organization "Historical Club of Sevastopol Tauride" by this reprint edition is opened by a series of Ancient guide as part of the publishing project The Christian Heritage of Tauris".
The monastery in honor of the Holy Equal -to -the -Apostles Prince Vladimir began to settle in 1850 on the land of the ancient Chersonesos, where Prince Vladimir was baptized in 988. By the beginning of the 20th century, the Kherson Monastery became not only the center of the spiritual life of the city, but also the church-historical monument to all of Russia.
Although the monastery does not exist today, its main temple has been restored - the majestic cathedral of the Holy -Vladimir Cathedral, which is an architectural and spiritual dominant, is the Sevastopol deanery here.
Every day, like a century and a half ago, pilgrims and tourists go to Chersones not only to inspect the ruins of the ancient Greek city, but also to the place of baptism of the Holy Prince Vladimir - the sacred and civilizational source of the Russian state, fonts of Christian Russia.
The publication is supplemented by illustrations selected in accordance with the structure of the guide. The content, spelling and style of the author’s text are preserved.
