“Georgia’s accession to Russia” is the main work of the outstanding Georgian historian, diplomat and political figure Prince Zurabovovich Avalov (Avalishvili) The author was aimed at condemning the process of joining Georgia to the huge single -relief empire and its features, indicate some conditions that caused the need for this step and to the situation in which the event was performed. The unification was not and could not be painless, according to Avalov, this event was preceded by a long path, on which individual Georgian kingdoms and possessions gradually lost independence. The scientist believed that Russia had neither economic nor strategic interests in this act, while Georgia needed the help and support of a powerful empire. “One way or another, Georgia’s joining to Russia was a great step forward, for the second, an extremely valuable acquisition that entailed a number of new successes.”
