The book of Japanist and writer Alexander Meshcheryakov (born 1951) is a study of the fundamental problems of Japanese history and culture throughout their length - from antiquity to the end of the 20th century. The “Earth” section tells how the Japanese comprehended and model the habitat, tried to influence it. There was a place for earthquakes, and the sea, and the sun. The main object of attention of the second part is people. People are famous and unknown people, the interaction of which determines the direction of the historical process. The section "ideas" examines several important mental and ideological constructs that the Japanese gave rise to. First of all, we are talking about painful search for national identity. In the Reflections" section, texts are placed, from which you can see how the perception of Japan in Russia has changed. These transformations were superimposed on each other and created a fluid image of Japan. The book is equipped with an extensive bibliographic list.
