This publication also included a description of the expedition to Egypt and Syria in 1798–1799, which began with the triumphal seizure of Malta and Alexandria, the battle of the pyramids and the defeat of the troops of the Mamlyukov and the death of the fleet of the French Republic in the battle of Abukir.
