The Joannis of the North African Early University poet Flavius Kryipp Coripp (or Dryipp, c. 510 - c. 580) is considered the last poetic epic of antiquity. The poem, written by hexameters, tells about the uprising of the Berberic tribes against the Byzantines in North Africa in the second half of the 540s, which Coripp was a direct witness, and also talks about the earlier events that led to this conflict. The poem was preserved in Italy in the only manuscript (although at least three were known in the Renaissance era), first published in 1820, but is still almost unknown to the Russian reader
