The monograph is devoted to the history of the imperial court of Russia during the reign of one of the most contradictory monarchs - Paul I. Having lasted a little more than four years on the throne, the son of Catherine the Great managed to conduct a number of transformations, one of which was the reform of the imperial court. The book is the first study of the new state of the court, adopted in 1796, the history of its introduction to life, the establishment of a new financing of the imperial surname, as well as an overview of the personal composition of court ranks, gentlemen and ladies. The book comprehensively covers the official court life of the Pavlovsk time, which made it possible to reveal its rapid evolution, to show the features of the tastes of the emperor and the style of his communication with the Russian elite, which was collected within the walls of the imperial residences
