The United States is usually called the country of immigrants, but from the first days of their existence in the political arena, supporters and opponents of free immigration are faced in the eternal lawsuit. All significant political events (not to mention the key episodes that formed the American state) affected the US immigration policy. The formation of immigration legislation at each new stage became an appeal to an old dispute that could not be resolved once and for all.
