The book of the Russian writer, journalist, publisher of the newspaper, St. Petersburg Vedomosti Vasily Avseenko (1842-1913) was released in 1903 to the anniversary of St. Petersburg.
The illustrated history of St. Petersburg will spend us for two centuries in the life of the city on the Neva, from laying the first stone until the beginning of the 20th century.
But the work of Vasily Avseenko is not only a historical excursion: the life and customs of citizens, holidays, architectural monuments and sights of Northern Palmyra are excellently described here. In addition, it also found a place for bright workshops of portraits of outstanding people, whose activities were connected with the city on the Neva - from emperors and great commanders to artists, writers and poets.
