The book, written by an outstanding Russian historian, archaeologist and philologist L. S. Klein, summarizes his long -term research of the Homeric epic, presented in the works of the Anatomy of the Iliad, "Severe Heroes", "Deciphered" Iliad "". A special place in these studies is also occupied by the "Catalog of Ships" - the famous segment of the second book "Iliad", which Klein considers the key to the entire Iliad as a whole. The original approach of Klein - and he decided to trace the fate of the Homeric heroes not from Homer to our time, but in the opposite direction, from Homer to the depths of times, - allowed him to find out what the real prototypes of the heroes of the Iliad in ancient history and mythology were. Scrupulous work with the structure of the text - expanding it in time, stratification by eras - made it possible to answer many questions noticed by both the author himself and many other famous scientists
