The topic we raised in this book is extremely rare not only in Russian, but also in foreign publications. A lot of literature on the Civil War in Russia, memoirs and memoirs of eyewitnesses of those events have been published. We decided to compile a martyrologist of the participants of the 1st Kuban (“icy”) campaign precisely because no one specifically engaged in this topic and were not published anywhere. We believe that human memory should raise from non -being the names of all heroes of the Civil War, without dividing them into red and white, without praising anyone and not condemning their deeds in the future.
The white warriors managed to describe in more detail that time precisely because many of them were lucky enough to stay alive and emigrate abroad. There they were already able to recall the entire epic of the White Army, the departed associates and their fate in a “calm” setting. The red ones could not have anything like that due to the fact that this campaign was forbidden to even remember (from the beginning to the end of the campaign there was not a single moment that could be called “heroic” for the Red Army, especially if you take into account the incompetent number of fighters from both sides) and many participants in those battles were subsequently repressed. There is not a single well-known little detailed list of the Red Army and commanders of the Red Army, who opposed the campaign of the Volunteer Army.
We hope that our book will help to erase some “white spots” in the history of the Civil War in Russia and thereby remember the names of heroic sons and daughters.
The book is designed for those interested in domestic history and those who can find on the lists of participants in the campaign of relatives and friends
