The book is dedicated to the analysis of Russian-Hungarian relations in the XII century. Their development differs markedly in the first and second half of the century. Until 1152, the Hungarian kings, interfering in the feud of Russian princes, were limited to the help of their allies from the Rurikovich clan, but they had never built plans for expanding their own possessions at the expense of Russia. At the same time, the role of the Hungarian ruling family of the Arpads in the fate of the South Russian princes was steadily increased. If in the first third of the XII century. Kalman the writer maintained allied relations with Svyatopolk Izyaslavich, and Istvan II-opponents of Monomakh and Mstislav the Great, then Geza II was in 1149-1152. However, after the victory of Izyaslav over the named princes in 1152, Geza II stopped sending his army to Russia, ignoring the requests of Izyaslav, and then his brother Vladimir. The new surge in the interest of the Arpads in Russia is noted only under Bele III, who was the first to plan to turn the Galician principality into a territory underwear Hungarian crown. An attempt to keep Prince Andras on the princely table in Galich (1188-1190) was unsuccessful. Perhaps in 1198, the Hungarian king Imre tried to take advantage of the absence for several months of the prince in Galich to restore the Hungarian power there.
