Albert Olmsted, professor of the Institute of the East of Chicago University, devoting his life to the study of the ancient Middle East, collected previously unknown material about the life, times and thinking of the Persians into a whole narrative. It was Persia for two centuries - from the spread of King Kir the Great power to Greece and to the burning of Persepolis, the capital of the kingdom, Alexander the Great - occupied the enviable position of the dictator of history. In his book, the author shows how science, literature, language and myths of the ancients grew out of the mixing of many cultures and contributed to the formation of future civilization
