The author not only talks about the formation and activities of the Union, but also places the history of the Hansa in the context of the era, concerns issues of trade, navigation, and the life of merchants of that time. In conclusion, Lindner gives an answer to the question of why the Hanseatic Union after brilliant successes nevertheless ceased to exist
