Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin (1766-1826)-Russian historian, writer, poet, scientist, reformer of the Russian language. It is Karamzin that we owe the appearance in the Russian alphabet the letters “ё”.
In 1803, Emperor Alexander I awarded Nikolai Karamzin the title of Russian historiographer. From the same time, work began on the most famous work of Karamzin-“History of the Russian State” (1818-1829)
In the preface to his work, Karamzin explained how important history and what role it plays in the life of every person. And also noted that the exciting history of Russia is no less interesting and eventful than world.
“The history of the Russian state is not only the work of the great writer, but also the feat of an honest person,” A. S. Pushkin wrote about Karamzin. “History” inspired Pushkin to create the Boris Godunov tragedy.
