In the essay "History of morals", the German historian and culturalist of the first half of the 20th century, Eduard Fuchs, explores the "sexual morality" of representatives of different historical eras - from revival to the beginning of the 20th century. He draws attention to how the ideas about beauty and enjoyment, ways of manifestation of feelings developed, how views on forms of mutual courtship, marriage customs, chastity, prostitution, adultery, and finally, to what place all this occupies in art, changed. In this book, Fuchs plunges into a study of the Renaissance Society, when the romantic cult of chivalry was adjacent to the most frank manifestations of sensuality
