The collective monograph discusses multiple aspects of historical policy in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. The first section discusses forming factors, institutional frames and conductors of historical policy. In the second-a review of transformations in state symbols (including the stages in the recently settled Greek-Macedonian dispute about the name of the former Yugoslav Republic) is given, and the reflection of historical policy in the design of banknotes as symbols with which citizens of any country interact everyday is analyzed. In the third section of the calendars of public holidays and commemorative dates (calendar reforms) are considered as an important tool for official commemolations. The fourth, most voluminous section discusses the changing models of perception of key events of the 20th century: two world wars and military conflicts of the 1990s. The fifth section is dedicated to the search for confirmation of the European identity and success of democracy of “its” nations with an exaggeration of the degree of modernity, which is most often accompanied by the contrast between the backward neighbors in the spirit of the political “use of another”. The sixth section is allocated to the dynamics of Southonostalgia and Yugophobia - two competing and interconnected strategies for the general past. The seventh section discusses the practices of construction/destruction/transformation of monuments or memorial spaces, fixing in a “solid form” of fluctuations in historical policy, supported from above, as well as the attitude to these manifestations of memory from below. In the eighth section, discussions around school textbooks were discussed, as well as compared ways to turn to medieval plots in the educational literature of a number of countries. The ninth section demonstrates the broadcast of the impulses of large policy into the sphere of mass culture and entertainment (computer games), as well as transformation, with the support of the state, film production products into the phenomena of historical policy and memorial wars. The short conclusion presents a discussion caused by the publication in 2020 by the Declaration of “Protect History” with an appeal to state institutions, the media, the field of education and all post -Yugoslav societies to abandon the use of the past for political and nationalist purposes. She exposed the paradoxes of the involvement of critics of “historical revisionism” in “good” historical policy
