According to the concentration of meanings and the interweaving of fate, one of the symbols of our city is the Chersonesos bell. He is older than Sevastopol himself, and his story is a story on the eternal topics of war and peace, memory and oblivion, death and revival.
In sources and literature, the bell is called differently: Chersonesos, signal, sound, foggy, trophy, monastery and even a "bell of desires". Scientific research on the topic of the appearance of a bell in Sevastopol, special studies have not yet been conducted. The version of its presence at the beginning of the twentieth century until 1855 in Khersones is inaccurate. Documents and materials identified during the work allow us to talk about its finding before the Crimean War in the Admiralty St. Nicholas Cathedral on Ekaterininskaya Street (now Lenin St) The cathedral has not yet been preserved, in its place the house of the fleet officers is located.
