On August 6, 1945, for the first time in history, nuclear weapons were used: the American bomber Enola Gay threw the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. A year later, The New Yorker magazine drew a whole number to John Herssey, who traced what happened to six survivors, at the time and after the explosion. The report published in the form of a book was dispersed by a circulation of more than three million copies and was repeatedly recognized as the best way of American journalism of the 20th century
