At the end of the XVI - beginning of the XVII century, there were cruel internecine wars in Japan. As a result, Prince Tokugawa Ieasa managed to defeat his rivals and created the Great Empire, in which his descendants ruled more than two hundred and fifty years. In his struggle with the rebellious provincial princes, he relied on samurai, the estate of warriors, similar to the knightly estate in Europe. Samurai had his own code of honor (Busido, “Warrior’s Way”, from another name of samurai - Bushi), based on the teachings of the Buddhist sect Zen. In this book, one of the main characters, whose prototype was Takuan, the great fencer from the encirclement of Prince Ieyas, serves as an example of a typical samurai, who is holy observing the Busido Code. This code has applied to love and family relations, which is also shown in the book. During its design, ancient Japanese engravings were used
