This publication is dedicated to the judicial reform of 1864 and the adoption of the Charter of Civil Procedure of 1864. The book considers a wide range of issues of the development of civil procedural legislation, the civil process before and after judicial reform. The general state of justice in civil cases on the eve of trials, the principles of civil process, trials, civil proceedings, protective proceedings, appeal of court decisions and their execution, the activities of the justice of the peace are revealed by authors in the relevant historical and legal essays. Special attention is paid to the development of Russian science of civil procedural law. The analyzed material is based on Russian legislation, archival materials, judicial practice, special literature of the late XIX - early XX centuries, statistical data. The publication was prepared by professors and associate professors of the Department of Civil Procedure of the Law Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and can serve as a training manual on a civil process for students and graduate students of law universities.
