The work of the outstanding historian Fernan Brodel, the largest representative of the French historical school "Annals", is devoted to the development of civilizations of the West and East. The Grammar of Civilizations was written in 1963 and was conceived by the author as a textbook for a secondary education system in France. However, it turned out to be too complicated for the textbook, but it was with great interest met by the scientific circles of the world, evidence of which translations into many languages were. Unlike other fundamental studies of the author, it is written in a more affordable form, which facilitates the perception of the concept of a ferment not only by specialists, but also by a wide reader"s audience.
