In the book "Global connections of a person who has never traveled, Dominic Skhenmeier explores the spread of ideas in the rapidly globaling world of the mid -17th century through the prism of the biography of the Chinese Christian Zhu Zunjuan.

Zhu, most likely, never left the limits of his native province. Nevertheless, he led an amazingly rich global life, with a paradoxical list of cases, from scientific work and ending with participation in the transnational activities of the Catholic Church.

On the one hand, Zaksenmeyer pays attention to the intellectual, political and social life of the society of the end of the Ming and the beginning of Qing. On the other hand, he considers, as individual individuals like Zhu, they found their place in the history of organizations and power structures of the early new time against the backdrop of large -scale transformations and conflicts.
