The book talks about the events taking place in Galicia (Austrian Galicia) and around it from 1772 to 1914, from the first section of the Commonwealth, when Galician Russia, the ancient Russian land, was under the rule of Austria, and before the beginning of the First World War. Particular attention is paid to the story of how, despite all the obstacles, repaired by the Polish and Austrian authorities, the Galician Rusyns came to the realization of the idea of all-Russian national-cultural unity, as stated in 1866. Opponents of Russia set the task of creating Antimoskovsky Russia in Galicia. Under these conditions, part of the Galician-Russian people remained in the positions of recognition of Russian unity, and from another part, the Galician-Ukrainian movement was formed, imbued with the spirit of irreconcilable enmity and hatred for everything Russian. The book is affected by the topic of Ukrainophilism in the Russian Empire, and also tells about the events that are little -known or unknown to the modern reader from the life of Galicia and the city of Lviv in the period 1772–1914
