The beginning of geological knowledge is given in the amount of information on general and field geology. The main sections of engineering geology are considered as part of primer, engineering geodynamics, engineering surveys and regional engineering geology. The general object of the study of primer studies and soil - soil is substantiated, and the basics of genetic soil science and soil typification in Russia are considered. The characteristic of the composition, condition and properties of various soils, including soils, as multiphase systems, is given. The conditions for the occurrence and movement of groundwater are considered and the role of groundwater is determined in the development of territories and the construction of various buildings and structures. The concept of engineering and geological conditions is formulated and the laws of their formation by the regions of the country are considered. A systematic description of soils in various regions of Russia is given. The inextricable connection of engineering geology and soil science with issues of rational use and protection of environmental nature is emphasized.
