From the power of the idea - to the idea of ​​power

For the first time in Russian and foreign historiography, the history of the unique research institution of the Communist Party of the USSR-the Institute of Marxism-Leninism (IML) under the Central Committee of the CPSU for all 70 years of its activity, from 1921 to 1991 is investigated. Through the prism of the history of IML, the role of the ideology of Marxism -Leninism in the life of Soviet society is traced - from a rallying, mobilizing factor to its transformation into an orthodox, dogmatic doctrine, following which led to the collapse of the USSR. The author is a doctor of historical sciences, professor M. M. Mukhamedzhanov, being more than a quarter of a century as an institute employee, was a witness and a participant in the scientific process and everyday life of this ideological center of the party and experienced a strict pressure from political censorship from his own experience. The study was conducted on the basis of archival documents of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Institute of Marxism-Leninism, the printed publications of IML, as well as the memoirs of its former leading researchers, including the author’s diary entries
