In the focus of the consideration of Nikolai Bolgov, the fate of a woman in the post -classical world, in which antiquity and Christianity met. Byzantium IV - VI centuries in secular life still maintained a classic cult of a beautiful human, primarily female, but Christian theologians have already conducted an uncompromising and quite successful struggle with nudity, inciting lust. There were radical changes in the field of morality, which influenced literally everything. Relying to secular and church sources, the author tells how the Nemorous neighborhood of Christian asceticism and ancient freedom of morals - about how they lived, loved, raised children, reflected on the everyday image of Byzantine women. Along the way, many interesting things about the life and personal life of women of different layers are reported - heter, nuns and representatives of the nobility.
