The book of the art historian Ekaterina Andreeva is devoted to several phenomena of Finnish culture. The author explores paintings in medieval churches, talks about the estates of the XVII-XIX centuries and dwells in detail on the works of the genius of the Finnish and world architecture of the twentieth century ALVAR AALTO. Speaking about him, E. Andreeva emphasizes such moments of the creative philosophy of the architect as the organicity and superiority of the principles of "natural" design over the "technogenic". This approach makes a historical example of Finnish culture especially relevant for modern urban development. Monuments about which E. Andreeva writes rarely became the subject of interest of Russian art historians and historians of architecture, which makes a book important for a wide variety of circles of readers, and the combination of erudition and wit turns it into a rare example of domestic literature
