AND I. Gurevich (1924-2006)-an outstanding domestic medical historian, culturologist, founder of historical anthropology in Russia. The circle of his interests is extremely wide: the social history of Norway, the folk culture of the Middle Ages, the ancient Iceland and ancient North Culture, the problems of the methodology of modern historiography. All topics of his research are interconnected and form an amazing integrity. The articles selected for this collection in a certain sense, to one degree or another drawn into orbit of larger studies - those scientific monographs that were created by A.Ya. Gurevich
