The monograph for the first time in domestic legal science shows the evolution of the science of the history of law and the state of Russia from the standpoint of science on the basis of an institutional approach. Theoretical and methodological aspects of cognitive and social institutionalization are revealed. Historiographic and sources of study of the thematic history of science are revealed, the interdisciplinary nature of the object being studied is shown, and the factology is built according to the chosen periodization. The research orbit includes not only the development of the subject content of the science of the history of law and the state of Russia, the methods of studying legal matter, the stages of development of domestic legal science and the history of law as a scientific discipline, but also state policy, the evolution of forms of organization of science, its structure, genesis and evolution of scientific directions.
