The book considers the process of forming a Croatian ethnic group on the territory of the former Roman province of Dalmatia in the early Middle Ages. Based on the analysis of a wide range of sources, historical circumstances and socio-political context are recreated, in which the formation of the Croatian community as an independent ethno-political organism took place, an analysis of the early Croatian identity is given. From new methodological positions, the ideas about the ancestral home of the Croats and their resettlement to Dalmatia are reviewed in historiography
