For the first time in the domestic heraldic literature, images and index of the emblem of the noble clans of the Russian Empire and the Kingdom of Poland in emblematic order are given. In total, about 5,135 coats of arms include a coat of arms. These are almost all officially approved in the Russian Empire and the kingdom of the Polish coat of arms, with the exception of about 36 % of the so -called “diploma emblems”, whose images are stored in RGIA and are available only to a limited circle of researchers. The only “emblemic grip” of this type, compiled in 1885 by V. Gornom, is also stored in RGIA and is practically inaccessible to researchers. In addition to the officially approved emblems, distinctive emblems from the Little Russian Herbinnik V.K. Lukomsky and V.L. Modzalevsky, which allows you to take into account for attributed purposes a significant layer of Ukrainian clan heraldry.
This work can serve as a valuable manual to determine certain emblems on subjects for heraldists, antiques, employees of museums, libraries, archives and other science and culture workers who are faced with such a necessity
